NUMBER PORTABILITY

Number portability is a service that allows you to keep your existing phone number when switching from one operator to another. This means you do not need to change the number you use if you choose to switch to a different operator for your communication services.

Number portability is a consumer right defined and regulated by the prevailing legal and regulatory framework, and the transfer process is carried out in accordance with the rules and procedures established for this purpose. https://www.arkep-rks.org/Page/148

The process is simple and is managed by Telecom of Kosovo. You simply need to visit a VALA point of sale with your identification document and submit a request to transfer your number. For an individual customer with a single number, the transfer can be completed within one business day.
Transferring the number terminates the service provided by the previous operator for that number, but it does not cancel any existing financial or contractual obligations owed to that operator. If you have an active contract, there may be penalties for early termination, so these should be verified beforehand. Find your number: www.shikonumrin.com

2. Does the customer pay for the number transfer?

The number porting process itself is free of charge, but you pay for the selected SIM card or package.

3. Where should the client go for the transfer?

At the new operator to which the number is to be transferred. So, if an IPKO customer wants to switch to Vala, they must present themselves at Vala.

4. What documents must the client have?

Identification documents are required for individual prepaid customers, while the latest bill is also required for postpaid customers. For business customers, the relevant authorization is also required when an authorized person applies.

The porting process may fail. The customer must correct the details with the current operator, and the request must be initiated again.

7. How long does the transfer take?

For mobile numbers, provided all conditions are met, porting is carried out while the customer is present, whereas for fixed-line services, it depends on technical capabilities at the location where the porting is to take place. Processing the request takes up to 3 working days.

8. Could there be a service interruption?

Yes, temporarily, during the activation and transfer of the number to the new network.

9. Can I change my decision during the transfer/porting process?

Once the porting process has started and the confirmation SMS has been sent, the porting process cannot be stopped.

The operator checks the reason for the rejection in the system, informs the client, and advises them on the next steps based on the reason for the rejection. Once the issue is resolved, the request is initiated again from the beginning.

11. Can all of a business's numbers be ported, or only some of them?

Yes, all numbers or only a portion of them can be ported, depending on the business's requirements.

12. What happens if I am not satisfied with the new Postpaid service? Can I return to my previous operator?

If your new operator fails to deliver the promised coverage or meet other such key parameters, the customer may reverse the porting process within 7 calendar days of the porting request (the "Cooling-Off" period)—but ONLY by returning to the previous operator. For example: if an IPKO customer switches to Vala and signs a 12- or 24-month contract, and the porting process is completed, but the customer wishes to return to IPKO for any reason during that 7-day window, then IPKO carries out the "Cooling-Off" return procedure, while Vala continues billing in accordance with the contract and applicable regulations. The "Cooling-Off" procedure may be exercised only once within a 90-day period.

13. Çka është “Repatriation Check”?

A check is performed to determine whether the number being transferred is subject to a request for return to the previous operator (repatriation)—a procedure automatically executed by the system. If there is no such request, the process proceeds, though it may be cancelled in specific instances, such as cases of unauthorized porting or fraud.

14. Where should the customer turn if they have complaints regarding porting?

In the event of complaints, the customer must contact the operator with whom they submitted the porting request.

15. Do the rates for calls, SMS, and data change when I switch to the new operator?

Messages sent to the client prior to the transfer, but which were not received, may be deleted.

The customer sends an SMS with the text "PORT" to 50025 from the number they wish to port. Without this confirmation, the request remains pending.

18. Can I send this SMS without credit?

Yes, you do not need to have credit in your account for this process.

19. What status must the number be in for the porting process to be initiated?

The number must be in "active" status for the process to be initiated. Therefore, if your number is in "valid" or "deactivated" status, it cannot be ported.

Yes. The customer receives a SIM card from the new operator while keeping the same number. Contacts from the old SIM card are not automatically transferred.

21. What happens to the remaining prepaid credit?

Prepaid customers will not be able to carry over their remaining credit to the new operator when switching providers.
